Born Again Christians ONLY?

I have been saved for over 3 months now. I have been praying twice a day and I've stopped many sins. But I still have a problem with being righteous. How did you learn to acknowledge God in all of your ways to trust him? I have been trying to help others come closer to God and think about myself a lot less but I have a quick temper and I feel like I am still a bit selfish. Why do I feel like I am not making the progress I should?
